Grand Hotel Dining

Every meal is an event.

Throughout the history of Grand Hotel, dining has been one of the brightest highlights of the guest experience, and every meal is truly special, thanks to exceptional food, service and ambiance. A number of dining options are available, from the legendary Main Dining Room—which overlooks the Straits of Mackinac and where a coat and tie for gentlemen and dress or pantsuit for ladies is required after 6:30 p.m.—to the more casual The Gate House, The Jockey Club at the Grand Stand, Cawthorne’s Village Inn and Carleton’s Tea Store. Most weekend packages feature the Modified American Plan, which includes a full breakfast and five-course dinner daily. The Full American Plan includes a full breakfast, Grand Luncheon Buffet and five-course dinner daily.

Carriage House Dining Room – Hotel Iroquois


Under the direction of Chef Jim Lahti, the Carriage House Dining Room is known island-wide for its fine classic American cuisine. Local seafood selections such as Carriage House Whitefish from Lake Superior and Sautéed Perch from Lake Erie are paired with fresh salads, soups and desserts topped with signature Iroquois Hot Fudge.

Directly overlooking the Straits of Mackinac, guests enjoy flawless service in our glass-enclosed dining room or on one of our breezy outdoor waterfront verandas. The restaurant features an extensive wine list, full bar and nightly entertainment at the piano bar.

The Carriage House serves dinner May 19 through October 16 and lunch May 27 through September 11.

The Cudahy Chophouse at The Inn at Stonecliffe

In 1904, Stonecliffe mansion was built as a summer cottage for Michael Cudahy, an immigrant from Kilkenny, Ireland. With the help of his brothers, Edward and Patrick Cudahy, Michael established the Cudahy Meat Packing Company in South Omaha, Nebraska. The Cudahy Chophouse, named after the mansions original owner shares Michael’s passion for steak.

The Cudahy Chophouse features duck, ribeye and pork chops along with a lighter fare bar menu. Our Executive Chef has created a sumptuous menu for you to enjoy while taking in breathtaking view of the Straits of Mackinac.

Dinner reservations are recommended and sometimes required. Reservations can be made by calling (906) 847-3355. Resort casual dress is appropriate.

Hours: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Cocktail Lounge

Our cocktail lounge, The Cudahy Room, features cocktails, local beers and wines by the glass or by the bottle. Enjoy an appetizer and your favorite spirit in the mansion’s original library or on the Portico overlooking the Straits of Mackinac.

Hours: 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., menu served until 9:00 p.m.

The Pink Pony Dining Room is the best casual dining experience on Mackinac Island. With the decor of a relaxing island bistro The Pink Pony Dining Room serves up the best value for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. With floor to ceiling windows the views of the Harbor and Marina are spectacular.

Say hello to the day with a twist on a classic with Eggs Benedict Chippewa or stick with the energizing eggs and bacon. Enjoy the sweet smell of coffee while the sun glistens off the harbor fillinig the Dining Room with a shimmering light.

Lunch

Whether dining by oneself or with the entire family everyone can find something to satisfy. Children can select from a special menu just for them or perhaps choose a classic meal from the Pink Pony Menu. No matter the choice, it is sure to tantalize the taste buds and impress the pallette.

Perhaps getting a table on the Upper Deck is desired. Enjoy the fresh breeze off the water as the flavors of exquisite meals intertwine in the air.

Dinner

From gourmet Pasta DiAngelina to traditional meatloaf, any appetite can be satisfied with dinner prepared by our exceptional staff and chef. Save room for dessert and make the evening sweet!

Kids Menu

Kids Eat Free! Guests staying at the Chippewa Hotel age ten and under can enjoy a complimentary breakfast from the children’s menu during each morning of their stay when accompanied by an adult.

Throughout the day – Children can enjoy making their selections from the special Children’s Menu. Meals created just for them at a child size price.

The Gate House


The Gate House will open for the season on Friday, April 29th for dinner! See you then!

A casual restaurant and bar just a short walk down from Grand Hill. Serving lunch and dinner beginning at 11:00 a.m. every day. Late night and Children’s menus are also available. Relax with a cocktail on our outdoor patio or view your favorite sporting event on one of many indoor televisions. You can also enjoy live musical entertainment most evenings. Check the Restaurant Events Calendar for live music schedule, food/drink specials and more.

Overnight guests of Grand Hotel on the Modified American Plan receive a $20.00 per adult credit towards the food portion of their bill.

There is tipping at The Gate House.
