We are excited to announce the addition of Sushi Grand!
Opening May 2016!
Mackinac Island’s first and only Sushi Restaurant located next to The Gate House at the bottom of Grand hill. It will be a made to order sushi restaurant for dine-in and take out. The decor was created by our longtime interior designer Carleton Varney of Dorothy Draper and Co. in New York. The ceiling will feature a hand painted stylized map of Asia with ink brush strokes against a gold foil background. Japanese conical straw hat light fixtures will hang over the sushi bar and highlight the overall decor of gold and red accents and black marble countertops.
The walls will be painted by artist Alice Bear Ludwig and feature bamboo trelliswork. The largest wall will feature an elaborately carved antique gilded grand entrance. The floor will resemble a wading pool.
We are very excited to add this unique dining option. Sushi Grand will become Grand Hotel’s sixth off-site restaurant on Mackinac Island available to hotel guests and visitors to the island.
