Fall Color – Mackinac Island – October 7, 2010

Fall color is emerging on Mackinac Island and the weekend of October 9 – 10, 2010 should be a good peak weekend for a fall color tour visit. Most of the peak color right now is in the interior of the island on higher ground. Still a lot of green leaves near the water. Color should peak on the higher ground this weekend and there should still be good color near the water for the weekend of October 16 & 17.

Mackitraz 5 – Waugoshance Lighthouse Fundraiser – The Inn at Stonecliffe – September 18, 2012

On Tuesday, September 18th, The Inn at Stonecliffe will be hosting the Mackitraz 5 in the heated tent for the last party of the year.

We have partnered with Chris West and the Waugoshance Lighthouse Preservation Society to raise funds for this cause. An appetizer buffet and full bar will be served in the tent. We will bring the wicker furniture from the portico and additional seating into the heated tent. Dinner will be served in the dining room. No RSVP’s are required. Come and join us Rain or Shine!

The Waugoshance Lighthouse Preservation Society will accepting donations and raffling off the following items:

— An invitation for 2 aboard the Ugly Anne to the Waugoshance Lighthouse with the Lighthouse Board in the summer of 2013. This 6-hour trip is a truly unique opportunity to see this historic structure with the people who know it best!

— A painting of the Waugoshance Lighthouse that will be painted live in the tent Tuesday evening by local artist Noel Skiba!

The Waugoshance Lighthouse Preservation Society has the opportunity to obtain a 2 for 1 match from the Michigan Lighthouse Assistance Program in order to fund the completion of a Historic Structure Report. We need to submit this report to several federal entities before any renovation work can begin on the lighthouse. If we raise $10,000, the State program will double our amount and give us $20,000! The total $30,000, funded by our Indiegogo supporters (you!) and the State, will allow us to pay for the report and then begin renovation on this historic Lake Michigan lighthouse. Please join us in helping to restore Waugoshance! To donate and for more details go to http://www.indiegogo.com/wlighthouse

Mission Point Theater – Mission Point Resort

Located next to Lakeside Spa & Salon and across from Bicycle Rentals, our historical theater is a one-of-a-kind Mackinac experience. As the only movie theater on the island, it will give you the feeling of going back somewhere in time (literally – the classic theater scene with Christopher Reeve in Somewhere in Time was filmed in here).

MOVIES ON MACKINAC sponsored by Mackinac Arts Council

Mackinac Island has a rich tradition of filmmaking from Hollywood blockbusters to indie flicks. Join us this summer for an eclectic selection of classic and new movies in the Mission Point Theater.

Movies are shown every Tuesday at 7:30pm and every Sunday at 4:30pm from May 30 to October 31 (plus some special showings). On rainy days movies are shown continuously throughout the afternoon. In fair weather during warmer months, Tuesday and Sunday movies are shown at dusk on the Great Lawn at Mission Point.
