Fall and Winter Travel To Mackinac Island – 2012 – 13

Although the “tourist season” finishes up at the end of October, you can travel and stay on Mackinac Island all year long. Here are some resources to help plan your fall and winter trips to Mackinac Island. (We will continue to update this throughout the fall and winter.)

THE COTTAGE INN
The Cottage Inn will be open this winter. Their winter season is currently December 1, 2010 through February 20, 2011 (Check their schedule here for the latest updates.) – Call 906-847-4000

Mustang Lounge
Cawthorne’s Village Inn
(Cawthorne’s Village Inn — formerly the Village Inn, established in 1981 — is Grand Hotel’s newest casual dining option. Located on Hoban Street and just a block off Mackinac’s Main Street, Cawthorne’s will be open year round and feature a seasonally changing menu.)

TRANSPORTATION

Arnold Line Ferry operates until the ice freezes on a limited schedule
Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry operates until the ice freezes on a limited schedule from St. Ignace.

Great Lakes Air operates daily scheduled flights from St. Ignace to the Island

OTHER SERVICES

Doud’s Market and Harrisonville General Store will also be open for groceries.

You may bring your own snowmobile weather permitting via Arnold Transit, call (906) 847-3351 for details. Know you will need to stop by the Police Dept. to register your sled and also the Mackinac Island Airport for the Island trail sticker.

Skiing:
Provided there is ample snow, the Mackinac Island Ski Club will groom the cross country ski trails.
