Mackinac Island Great Turtle Trail Run – Photos
This year marks the 23rd running of one of the most scenic trail events in the state. We have a capacity of 3,000 participants running and walking the inside trails of Mackinac Island during the last open weekend of the season.

Happy #RaceDay Saturday #Runners 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏻 #Ran the #runmackinac #greatturtlerun #greatturtletrailrun #halfmarathon today. Came in 7th overall and 1st in my AG 🕺🏻 This was an awesome #run and I highly recommend it 👍 Yes it was a bit cool (low 40s) with off and on 🌦 but the course was VERY scenic and soo much fun to run through. Now to rest up ... I have another #race next week 😱🙈🦆 #runhappy #runnersofinstagram #runmichigan

Quick weekend trip to Mackinac Island for the #greatturtlerun
The light is just diff’rent up there. Good weekend. A little chilly. Yeah, we bought fudge (from Murdick’s actually, not Ryba’s, even though I took that night shot there; Marj used Linus’s criteria in choosing a pumpkin patch and tried to determine which fudge vendor was “most sincere” and felt Murdick’s was it… branding!). It’s a great weekend what with Halloween and “Somewhere in Time” cosplay at the Grand Hotel and all the summer workers saying goodbye to each other and of course the race/walk (we did the latter, 5.7 miles, even though two days before we walked the circumference of the island which is 8… still the medal is for the 5.7). Dogs liked their stroller okay but would have preferred to get out and snuffle. We only drove as far as Lansing both up and back (that’s the socks and dogs photo) because one of the dogs is not good at riding in cars. Oh, and have you heard, Michigan is a swing state! OMG there were so many political ads while we were watching Perry Mason reruns. I mean, reruns of #perrymason …that’s a very specific demographic. But there they were in every ad break, and quite a variety of approaches. Maybe it’ll swing. #mackinacisland #mackinacislandlife #greatturtlerun

Zachary ran his first official race, Antonio crushed it again earning 2nd in his age group, Conner stuck by Ella’s side helping her make it all 5.7 miles while the ladies and I ran and took in the spectacular views! We conquered the Great Turtle Run! 13.1 miles of gorgeous scenery on beautiful Mackinaw Island! 🐢 I finished in 1:55:27, 4 minutes faster than my goal! ➡️ Lots of hills ➡️ Gorgeous views ➡️ Didn’t shit my pants (although, mile 10 was questionable 🙈) ➡️ Minimal horse shit on my shoes 🐴 ➡️SO.
