Grand Hotel is situated on the southwestern bluff of Mackinac Island overlooking the Straits of Mackinac and – in the distance – the Mackinac Bridge. From the front porch – the world’s largest at 660 feet – guests can look down at the well-kept gardens and relax and enjoy the ambiance of “somewhere in time”. We had a wonderful time on this beautiful island, thanks to my sister malathikarri and my brother_in_law for planning and arranging this trip! Fun facts about Mackinac Island 1. Mackinac Island is home to the largest Lilac Tree in Michigan. 2. Mackinac Park is the second National Park and Michigan’s first State Park 3. It is a natural limestone arch formed during Nipissing post_glacial period. To this day Arch Rock stands on the Lake Huron shoreline 146 ft ( 45m ) above the water.
