The Inn at Stonecliffe

Discretely situated high atop the west bluff of Mackinac Island, The Inn at Stonecliffe welcomes you to experience the historic charm and unparalleled beauty of this one-of-a-kind Mackinac Island summer estate hotel. Today, completely remodeled and expanded, this Edwardian style Inn & hotel celebrates its first century with an unmatched location and grand views of the Straits of Mackinac and Mackinac Bridge.

Cudahy Manor

The Cudahy Manor offers 16 captivating guest rooms featuring views of the Inn’s expansive grounds, the Mackinac Bridge and surrounding Straits of Mackinac. Summer House Suites

The Summer House contains 29 richly appointed studio suites and two two-bedroom suites, decorated in a classic summer cottage style with a light Victorian influence. All Summer House suites are air conditioned and are equipped with a full size sofa sleeper, refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, television, wireless internet and telephone. All in-house guests are welcome to enjoy our continental breakfast each morning of their stay.

Activities & Amenities

Though the atmosphere at The Inn at Stonecliffe is one of tranquility and relaxation, you’ll be pleased to know that you’ll never run out of things do and attractions to see, both at the Inn and on Mackinac Island.

Without ever leaving the grounds, you can enjoy a swim in the heated outdoor pool, strike up a family bocce ball or croquet tournament on the lawn or just relax with a good book on the Portico. If a bout of wanderlust takes hold, consider an evening stroll around the Inn, or rent a bike and get lost on the island’s trails.

Swimming Pool

The Inn at Stonecliffe is one of the few places on the island to offer guests the enjoyment of an outdoor heated swimming pool. Perfect for an invigorating swim or a refreshing dip on a warm summer day, our pool opens the first Friday of June (weather permitting) and closes the third Sunday in September.

Seabiscuit Cafe

This fabulous Mackinac Island eatery features an appropriate horse theme from the 1938 true life story of the famous horse, Seabiscuit. After purchasing this former 1800s bank building, the new owners, sisters and lifelong island residents Debra and Sandra Orr, completely renovated the structure, including removing two inches of mortar from the walls revealing beautiful original brick surfaces. A great deal of care was taken to restore the original hardwood floors and new furnishings have transformed this building into a cozy comfortable restaurant.

Debra says the restaurant is “in honor of all types of horses.” She describes it as a “cozy café,” a place she hopes patrons feel is as comfortable as a second home. The recent movie version of the famous horse’s story runs continuously on one of the restaurant’s four TVs.

An excellent casual menu appropriately fits this charming place. Appetizers out of the gate include Roasted Indian Corn and Shrimp Chowder, Painted Pony Macaroni and War Admiral Hot Wings. Join the winner’s circle with sandwiches such as Honey Nut Chicken Salad Sandwich, Smoked Whitefish Salad Wrap, Cuban Pressed Sandwich, or a World Famous Derby Burger. To spin things little, try a Souvlaki Open Faced Gyro, a Caesar Twook Salad or a Michigan Chop Cherry Cobb. Visit the menu page for a complete list of Seabiscuit’s delicious offerings.

A fine wine selection is available along with a full bar so stop in for an afternoon cocktail or stay for the evening sipping your favorite martini. The menu page also includes the wine list and specialty drinks.
